Acupuncture
What is acupuncture?
As so many of you keep asking me what is acupuncture, I decided that in today's blog I’m going to talk about what it is and whats the benefits are. So let’s get started.
As so many of you keep asking me what is acupuncture, I decided that in today's blog I’m going to talk about what it is and whats the benefits are. So let’s get started.
As many of you know already acupuncture is something that has been being practiced in the Far East for thousands of years. Originally Bamboo was used but you will be pleased to know we have move don from that. Today we use small disposable needles which we inserted into your body. The reason behind this is that our bodies have energy lines running through them.
It is believed that when these energy lines become imbalanced this is when we fall ill.
I can imagine your wondering how do the needles help? Well, let me explain.
So when the needles are inserted at various points on the energy lines, it makes room for the energy to be directed to where we need it the most. Allowing our bodies to be restored and rebalanced.
So what factors can disturb our energy lines.
Emotional upset, stress, and even poor diet.
Once you find out what it is that's disrupting your energy lines, we can then choose the appropriate treatment to treat you.
Now let me tell you a little secret, many people have different opinions on how acupuncture works, but in short no one is really sure. So to prove how effective acupuncture really is many trials have taken place.
Scared of needles, don’t worry the needles we use are really thin, and very little pain is felt.
But before you can have acupuncture done you need to have a consultation. Having a consultation allows for our acupuncturist to gain an understanding of your main complaint and what your lifestyle is about.
Your consultation will involve asking you questions about your medical history, your sleeping pattern, and your appetite and digestion. But for us women, we are also asked questions about our menstrual cycle, any past pregnancies, and childbirth. All this helps your acupuncturist get a thorough understanding of what treatment to use.
Finally, if you’ve made it this far then I hope this blog has given you a better understanding and made you think about giving acupuncture a go. If you have any questions or would like to know more then please give us a call.
